She Rises In The Mountains

Embers & Earth:
A Women’s Retreat In The Smoky Mountains

An experience of connection, creativity, and tending to your inner fire.

There was something truly special about gathering in the Smoky Mountains this October. Surrounded by the beauty of the mountains, autumn air, and breathtaking sunrises, we created space to slow down, reconnect, and embrace the beauty of simply being present.

Embers & Earth was more than a retreat. It was an invitation to reconnect with ourselves, with nature, and with one another.

Our days unfolded through a beautiful blend of yoga, meditation, hiking, journaling, photography, and watercolor painting. We moved our bodies, quieted our minds, explored our creativity, and made room for reflection. Along the trails, we practiced the art of noticing—pausing to observe the small details, unexpected beauty, and moments that might otherwise go unseen. Through photography and journaling, we discovered how the things that draw our attention in the natural world can often reveal something meaningful about our own lives.

We gathered for nourishing meals, shared stories and laughter, and experienced the quiet magic that happens when women come together with openness and curiosity. There was room to explore, room to rest, room to create, and room to simply be ourselves without expectation.

Inspired by the element of fire, we reflected on the spark within each of us: the passions that keep us alive, the parts of ourselves ready to be rekindled, and the things we are ready to release. Like the changing seasons, we were reminded that growth doesn't always mean becoming something new. Sometimes, it means returning to the parts of ourselves that have been waiting for our attention.

From peaceful morning practices to mountain hikes, creative moments, and conversations that lingered long after they began, each experience offered an opportunity to reconnect with what matters most.

Perhaps the most meaningful part of all was the community that formed. Women arrived with their own stories, experiences, and seasons of life, and together we created a space for connection, encouragement, and genuine presence.

We left with memories of mountain sunrises, colorful watercolor paintings, photographs capturing moments of wonder, and journals filled with thoughts and reflections. But we also left with something less tangible and perhaps even more meaningful: a renewed sense of connection, a little more clarity, and a reminder that tending to our own inner fire is not a luxury. It is part of how we care for ourselves and live more fully.

I am deeply grateful for the beautiful women who made this retreat what it was.

Thank you for your openness, your laughter, your willingness to explore, and the energy each of you brought to our time together.

May we carry a little of that mountain magic into our everyday lives—continuing to notice the beauty around us, make space for creativity, nurture meaningful connections, and tend to the fire within.

Deb and I are already dreaming about gathering again! We’re planning to offer Embers & Earth again next fall, and we can’t wait to create another meaningful experience of connection, creativity, and renewal in the mountains. Stay tuned for more details—we’d love to have you join us!
